![]() ![]() Knowing full well that his actions go against many of the teachings of his religion, he still fashions himself an agent of God's divine punishment and takes out his fury on State Alchemists as a result, he abandons his birth name which Ishvalans consider gifts from God. Scar is a decidedly brooding, vicious, and angry man, almost totally consumed by hatred towards the people who destroyed his homeland. Additionally, he sports a pair of black slacks with a white cross on the left leg and a white stripe running down the right. In the early part of either series, Scar wears sunglasses to hide his red eyes from view and bears a distinctive gold-colored jacket emblazoned with a cross on the back and sleeves. The manga storyline portrays Scar as being in his early- to mid-thirties while the 2003 anime depicts him as being roughly ten years younger. The upper portion of his face is disfigured with a large X-shaped scar which stretches across his forehead and down over his eyes into his upper cheekbones. Scar's right arm is adorned with a thin scar stretching entirely around the limb where the bicep meets the shoulder and, from that mark all the way down to the wrist, is nearly covered with a complex tattoo. In the manga and 2009 anime storyline, this crown sticks up a bit, while the 2003 anime series depicts it as relatively flat and spread out. He is fairly tall with a muscular build and his hair is shaved close on the back and sides, leaving a silver-colored crown on top. The scarred man disappears, and the Elrics discover Nina-Alexander's blood-smeared remains on the alley wall.Being a native Ishvalan, the man known as Scar carries the dark complexion and distinctive red irises of his people. He declares it to be a sin against nature, and ultimately deconstructs it. As Tucker is arrested, Ed manages to free the chimera, which escapes into an alleyway and encounters the scarred man. Tucker tries to accuse Ed that he is guilty of this as well, and Ed nearly beats Tucker to death in response, though is stopped by the Nina-Alexander chimera. Ed then verbally places the pieces of the puzzle together, revealing that Tucker was responsible for using his wife for his first chimera, and now he is using Nina and Alexander for his new chimera. However, the Elrics sneak into the mansion into Tucker's laboratory in the basement, where he has just finished creating another speaking chimera in order to satisfy his yearly examination requirements. ![]() After Brigadier General Basque Grand finds out about Ed's investigations, he orders him to cease and desist, having the Elrics moving out of Tucker's mansion. ![]() On the way out of the library, Ed encounters a mysterious man with a cross-shaped scar across his face, and a strange tattoo on his right arm. ![]() After Tucker's reluctance in answering Ed's questions concerning the talking chimera that he created two years ago, Ed investigates at the state library but is denied access. Ed writes a letter to Winry, and Nina writes one to her mother. Mustang gives Ed a silver pocket watch, being a symbol of his rank and an alchemical amplifier. Ed is now a "dog of the military" for having passed the state alchemy examination. ![]()
